You won't find a better Decker pack saddle anywhere - packers who have used our Deckers won't have anything else. The bars are shaped in the classic O.P. Robinette style and fit most average horses and mules.
A one by four pine bar on each side of the half-breed spreads the weight of the packs across the pack animal's ribs.
The TrailMax half-breed cover is an envelope of lightweight yet extremely durable Textilene mesh stuffed with one inch of Duratex synthetic padding. Both are very lightweight and breathable. The edges are bound and reinforced with 4-way nylon webbing.
There are always ways to improve a product; however, we have found nothing better for the rigging than leather. We handpick from the very best available, Hermann Oak Old World Harness leather. The breast collar and the breeching are rolled to prevent soring or chafing.
The hardware in our saddles is solid brass, chrome-plated, with the exception of the rigging rings and breeching dees, which are nickel-plated steel for strength. We provide roller buckles for adjustment on the quarter straps and our conway buckles are always 1/8 inch bigger than our straps for easy adjustment.
The saddles are sold ready to pack with two latigos and a 100% Mohair pack cinch (specify cinch length, 24" - 32").
